VM1 — The Abdomen
The foundation of the Barral Method. A 4-day introduction to visceral listening, biomechanics of the abdominal cavity and manipulation of its main organs.
Synopsis
VM1 explores functional biomechanics from the Visceral Manipulation perspective developed by Jean-Pierre Barral. It presents the fundamentals, principles, indications and contraindications of visceral work, and teaches the Barral Listening method — the central diagnostic tool used to answer the body’s real need.
This course focuses on the abdominal cavity and its organs, combining theory, demonstration and supervised practice so students can start applying the techniques in clinic from day one.
What you will work on
Liver · Gallbladder · Stomach · Duodenum · Small intestine · Large intestine
Learning objectives
- →Develop manual skills to locate, evaluate and normalize dysfunction in the abdominal cavity
- →Analyze movement and suspension dynamics of organs, membranes and ligaments
- →Link visceral restrictions to neuromuscular and structural dysfunction
- →Describe the anatomy and physiology of abdominal organs; assess mobility and motility
- →Identify mechanical relationships between organs and the lumbar spine, pelvis and limbs
- →Apply visceral techniques for chronic low-back pain and related dysfunction
- →List causes of visceral restrictions, precautions and contraindications
- →Treat the abdominal sphincters to regulate autonomic function
