Barral Institute Spain — Official program
Visceral Manipulation
A therapeutic system that evaluates and treats the mobility of internal organs and their connecting fasciae. Developed by Jean-Pierre Barral after decades of clinical research.
What is Visceral Manipulation?
Jean-Pierre Barral observed that organs have their own rhythm of movement — visceral mobility — which, when altered by trauma, surgical procedures, infection or emotional stress, generates tensions that transfer to musculoskeletal structures.
Visceral Manipulation works directly on these restrictions to restore organic mobility and eliminate its impact on the musculoskeletal, neurological and vascular systems.
It is especially effective for chronic pain that does not respond to conventional treatment, post-surgical scarring, digestive dysfunction, gynecological issues and non-structural low-back pain.
Clinical indications
- →Chronic or recurring low-back pain without a clear structural cause
- →Digestive and abdominal dysfunction
- →Post-surgical adhesions and scar tissue
- →Gynecological and pelvic dysfunction
- →Functional chest pain and cardiopulmonary symptoms
- →Hard-to-diagnose neuromuscular conditions
Complete program
The 5 levels of Visceral Manipulation
VM1 — Abdomen
Introduction to the evaluation and treatment of the liver, gallbladder, stomach, duodenum, small intestine, colon and kidneys. Fundamentals of visceral listening.
VM2 — Abdomen and Pelvis
Extension to pelvic organs: bladder, uterus, prostate, ovaries and rectum. Viscero-fascial relationships with the lumbar spine and sacrum.
VM3 — Thorax
Treatment of the heart, pericardium, lungs and pleurae. Relationships with the thoracic spine, ribs and shoulder. Functional cardiopulmonary dysfunction.
VM4 — Scars and Urogenital System
Treatment of post-surgical adhesions, deep scars and urogenital dysfunction. Advanced general and local listening techniques.
VM5 — Emotional Approach
The emotional dimension of the body. Relationships between organs and emotions according to Barral. Somato-emotional release techniques applied to clinical practice.
